Take My Hand

This piece was created for my Indigenous Studies 101 unit at Deakin university. The assignment called for us to create something that reflected how we had learned to centre ourselves in Indigenous knowledges and history. And I could think of no better example of that than how Indigenous Australia has for more than a decade reached out and asked quietly whether we would like to learn about traditional burning of the land. Of, in white people speak, how to not have an incredible portion of the country on fire for most of the year.
